Parrot And Human Residential House
Parrot and Human Residential House is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious coexistence between humans and their avian companions, completed in 2022 in New Taipei City, Taiwan. This 56-square-meter dwelling space represents a groundbreaking approach to interspecies living arrangements, featuring thoughtfully integrated design elements that cater to both human comfort and the specific needs of pet parrots. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases a sophisticated blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal through its distinctive architectural features. The space incorporates a striking triangular roof structure in the common area, symbolically representing a birdcage and emphasizing the unity of the three-member family unit. The interior's grayish-white color scheme creates a serene atmosphere, while organic wooden elements infuse natural warmth throughout the space. Notable technical innovations include high ceilings for optimal ventilation and parrot flight paths, strategically placed trusses and ironworks for perching, and partitions that do not extend to the ceiling in certain areas to maintain open flight spaces. The design encompasses an entrance, living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, semi-open study room, and bathroom, all thoughtfully arranged to maximize space efficiency. Materials selected for the project prioritize environmental protection and safety, including calcium silicate board, bamboo charcoal anti-formaldehyde latex paint, mineral paint, and flame-proof antibacterial curtains. The design's sophisticated features include hexagonal tiles in Morandi gray at the entryway, curved cabinet wrapping on the main TV wall with elegant golden line accents, and a half-height wall behind the sofa that doubles as a parrot perch, demonstrating an exceptional integration of practical functionality with refined aesthetic sensibilities.
