Park Mcarthur

Park McArthur is an American artist whose work centers around disability, accessibility, and the politics of space. Her pieces often incorporate found objects and materials, as well as text and language, to explore the ways in which our built environment shapes our experiences and identities. McArthur's work is deeply informed by her own experiences as a disabled person, and she is known for her advocacy work around disability rights and accessibility in the arts. One of McArthur's most well-known pieces is Ramps, a series of sculptures made from steel ramps that are designed to be both functional and aesthetic. These ramps challenge the notion that accessibility features must be hidden or disguised, instead celebrating them as integral parts of our built environment. McArthur's work also often incorporates text, such as in her piece A Page from a Book, which features a page from a book that has been enlarged and mounted on a wall. The text on the page discusses the ways in which disability is often erased or ignored in art and design. In addition to her artistic practice, McArthur is also a writer and educator. She has taught at several universities and has written extensively on disability and accessibility in the arts. McArthur's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, and she has received numerous awards and grants for her contributions to the field of contemporary art.
