Paq Chair Bed Chair Bed
Paq Chair Bed Chair bed is an innovative transformable furniture piece that exemplifies efficient space utilization through ingenious design simplicity. This multifunctional creation seamlessly transitions from an armchair to a bed through a single zipper mechanism, representing a significant advancement in convertible furniture design. The design, which emerged from extensive paper folding experimentation and origami techniques, features a cylindrical form that can be manipulated through strategic folding to create both seating and sleeping configurations. The piece incorporates a built-in storage compartment for bedding, enhancing its practicality for small living spaces. When configured as an armchair, it measures 600 x 600 x 850 millimeters, expanding to 2000 x 850 millimeters in its bed formation. The design employs a foam mattress construction wrapped in textile material, secured by a sophisticated zipper system that enables its transformation. The double-folded back and wide seat dimensions ensure optimal comfort in both configurations. This innovative furniture solution, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in addressing the challenges of contemporary urban living through its combination of functionality, simplicity, and space efficiency. The design's success lies in its ability to maintain structural integrity while supporting user weight, achieved through careful engineering that preserves the furniture's lightweight nature without compromising stability.
