PAPILLON Coffee-Table
PAPILLON Coffee-Table is an innovative and sculptural furniture piece that masterfully combines aesthetic elegance with functional storage capabilities, designed by Spanish architect and designer Oliver Bals. This sophisticated coffee table features a distinctive design approach where a single flat element is ingeniously combined into a spatial structure, positioned beneath a tempered glass top of 10mm thickness. The base construction utilizes 18mm birch plywood elements, finished with high-gloss or satin HPL (High-Pressure Laminate), creating a dynamic interplay of forms that evoke the organic movement of leaves and open books. The table's design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, demonstrates exceptional versatility with four different available glass shapes and varying surface dimensions ranging from 1400 x 850mm to 1100 x 1100mm, while maintaining a consistent height of 360mm. The table's unique structural composition employs a tetrahedral geometry that naturally accommodates slight floor unevenness, while its thoughtful design creates inclined storage spaces that maintain order through gravitational influence. The supporting elements create a random harmony that subtly transforms as books and magazines are stored within, offering a continuously evolving aesthetic experience that never compromises its original character.
