Paolo Lombardi
Paolo Lombardi was an Italian painter active in the late 15th century, noted for his adherence to the International Gothic style of painting. Born in Florence, Lombardi was apprenticed to the Flemish painter Domenico Ghirlandaio and likely also trained with Fra Filippo Lippi. Lombardi is known for fresco cycles in the Palazzo Vecchio and the large altarpiece of the Assumption of the Virgin with Saints in the Santissima Annunziata in Florence. He also painted two major altarpieces for the Church of Santo Spirito. Among Lombardi’s drawings is a set of about sixty study designs of the Passion of Christ now in the Uffizi.
