Paga Microroastery Coffee Bar
Paga Microroastery Coffee Bar is an architecturally distinctive coffee establishment and roastery located in Bangkok's central business district, conceived as a sanctuary-like space that pays homage to the journey of coffee from mountain to cup. This three-story corner building, completed in 2021, represents a significant advancement in contemporary coffee bar design through its innovative architectural approach and thoughtful interior spatial planning. The structure's pure white exterior features dimensional facades that interact dynamically with natural light throughout the day, creating an ever-changing visual experience that provides a calm counterpoint to its bustling urban surroundings. The interior design, developed by Kijtanes Kajornrattanadech and team, masterfully integrates functionality with aesthetic excellence, featuring a prominent 15-meter seamless artificial stone counter bar that serves as the heart of the space. The design philosophy draws direct inspiration from the mountainous regions where coffee is cultivated, manifesting this connection through thoughtful spatial progression across three levels that mimics the journey of ascending a mountain. This concept earned the project a Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its exceptional achievement in creating an immersive coffee experience. The establishment distinguishes itself through its dedication to micro-lot coffee production, incorporating specialized areas for roasting, tasting, and education, while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic that emphasizes the natural interplay of light and shadow throughout the space. The design successfully creates a contemplative environment that honors the complex process of specialty coffee production, from cultivation to cup, while providing an innovative solution to the challenge of establishing a peaceful refuge within an urban context.
