Otto Nebel
Otto Nebel (1903–1968) was a German Expressionist artist who was part of the Die Brücke movement in Dresden. He developed an approach to painting that combined Expressionist figuration with a reductive abstraction of form. His works often featured bold outlines and vivid colors, and in many pieces he used traditional techniques such as woodcut printmaking and watercolor. Notable works by Nebel include his series of Expressionist woodcuts, his paintings ‘The Three Musicians’ (1932) and ‘Young Punks’ (1944), and his lithographs ‘Carnival’ (1959) and ‘Mourning’ (1966).
