Orsi Khaneh Residential Apartment

Orsi Khaneh Residential Apartment

Orsi Khaneh Residential Apartment is an innovative architectural project that masterfully blends traditional Iranian design elements with contemporary architectural principles. Located in Tehran, this residential complex, completed in 2015, spans 1,409 square meters across multiple floors, with each floor measuring 195 square meters. The design's primary concept revolves around a modernized interpretation of the traditional Orsi window, a distinctive feature of Persian architecture characterized by wooden lattice work and stained glass. The building's facade implements a sophisticated double-layer coverage system utilizing Thermowood and stained glass, which serves both aesthetic and functional purposes by creating dynamic lighting effects while effectively regulating interior temperature. Notable architectural elements include strategically placed balconies framed with travertine boxes, creating a dynamic visual composition that explores the fourth dimension of architecture through varying perspectives and experiences of space. The design particularly emphasizes the integration of fundamental elements from Persian architecture - light, water, and vegetation - while incorporating modern sustainable features. The structure's entrance space draws inspiration from the historic Borujerdiha house in Kashan, featuring thoughtful implementations of transparency, light, and color performances. The building's innovative facade includes hydraulically operated intangible sunshades that can be adjusted upward, providing both practical functionality and architectural dynamism. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project stands 22 meters tall and occupies a 300-square-meter plot, demonstrating exceptional achievement in addressing contemporary residential needs while preserving cultural architectural heritage. The design successfully overcame various economic and regulatory challenges through innovative use of propitious, recyclable, and native materials, establishing a new paradigm in modern Iranian residential architecture.
