Orchid 2 Spa

Orchid 2 Spa

Orchid 2 Spa is an innovative interior design project that revolutionizes the traditional spa experience through its sophisticated use of reflective surfaces and thoughtful spatial design. Created by designers Xu Zhichao, Wang Dan, and Yan Qing, this architectural masterpiece challenges the conventional dark and mysterious atmosphere typically associated with massage spaces by prioritizing cleanliness and comfort through its bright, pure aesthetic. The design, which earned the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, employs an ingenious combination of mirror and mirrored stainless steel materials to create an illusion of expanded space and enhanced illumination. The project's distinctive features include a teardrop-shaped electroplated metal art installation measuring 400mm in height, 1100mm in length, and 500mm in width, which serves as both a functional and artistic element in the reception area. The designers' innovative approach to budget constraints led to creative material selections, such as combining premium terrazzo stone in public areas with matching ceramic tiles in private spaces. The space achieves its transformative atmosphere through careful integration of natural light, spatial structure, and user experience, creating a dreamlike environment that bridges reality and illusion. Completed in October 2018 in Nanjing, the project demonstrates exceptional energy efficiency through its strategic use of linear lighting instead of traditional spotlights, while mirror reflections bring outdoor scenery and greenery into the interior space, establishing a harmonious connection between the built environment and nature.
