Orange Crystal Hotel Lobby Hotel lobby is an innovative architectural interior design project that reimagines the traditional hotel lobby concept, transforming it into a multifunctional living room space that seamlessly integrates hospitality, culture, and artistic expression. Created by Chinese architect Jaco Pan, this 570-square-meter space represents a sophisticated approach to contemporary hotel design, particularly focusing on small-scale hospitality projects. The design philosophy emphasizes geometric principles, incorporating abstract layer cascade folds that form an orange tree motif, symbolically aligning with the hotel's brand identity while maintaining horizontal flow throughout the space. The lobby's distinctive features include a deliberately placed entrance obstacle that creates an intriguing spatial narrative, challenging conventional circulation patterns while enhancing the overall user experience. Utilizing premium materials such as aluminum plates, piano lacquer, and ariston, the design achieves a harmonious balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal. The space demonstrates exceptional versatility, functioning as both a traditional hotel reception area and a cultural salon capable of hosting art exhibitions and musical performances during evening hours. This innovative approach to lobby design, which earned the prestigious Gold A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2017, successfully addresses the challenge of limited spatial depth while creating a warm, emotionally engaging environment that promotes social interaction and cultural exchange. The project's location in Nanjing City, China, facing a street frontage, presented unique design challenges that were resolved through careful consideration of interior-exterior relationships and the implementation of humanity-based elements such as reading areas and waiting lounges.
