Onyx House Residential House is an innovative residential architectural project designed by Estonian architect Viacheslav Deev, exemplifying a harmonious integration of modern architecture with natural surroundings. Located within a preserved forest setting, this distinctive dwelling masterfully exploits the existing landscape and forest massive, creating a seamless connection between built environment and nature. The structure, completed in March 2012, features impressive dimensions of 14.2 meters in depth, 16.5 meters in width, and 7.4 meters in height, utilizing reinforced concrete construction with styrofoam insulation for optimal thermal efficiency. The design philosophy centers on the concept of a protective cocoon that simultaneously maintains maximum openness to nature, particularly evident in the first floor's design. The architectural composition demonstrates exceptional sensitivity to its environment through thoughtful material selection and design elements that mirror the surrounding forest - evening light reflects off tree trunks, the facade's coloration complements tree bark, and a natural stone firewall emerges organically from the ground. This sophisticated approach to environmental integration, combined with the absence of neighboring structures, enabled the creation of clean, natural facades that respect the site's character. The project, which commenced in July 2010 in Tallinn, represents a significant achievement in residential architecture, earning recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative spatial design and harmonious environmental integration.
