Only Right Here Knife Holder

Only Right Here Knife Holder

Only Right Here Knife holder is an innovative kitchenware design that represents a profound cultural statement through functional art, created by Mexican designer Alan Saga between 2011-2013. This multifaceted geometric piece, composed of 162 polysurfaces, serves as both a practical knife holder and a symbolic commentary on the evolution of cultural practices, particularly referencing the traditional spectacle of bullfighting while advocating for a more compassionate future. The design, crafted from ABS PC plastic with a white matte finish, measures 133mm in width, 388mm in depth, and 198mm in height, featuring a sophisticated construction that ensures hygienic storage for standard chef knives. The piece emerged from extensive research into Mexican cultural mores and contemporary societal attitudes, incorporating both practical functionality and artistic expression. Its development involved multiple prototyping phases, including wooden models, 3D prints, and handcrafted aluminum casting, ultimately resulting in a design that seamlessly merges cultural commentary with everyday utility. The work garnered international recognition when it received the Platinum A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design category, acknowledging its exceptional contribution to design innovation and cultural discourse. The design's significance lies in its ability to transform a utilitarian kitchen implement into a powerful statement about societal evolution and humanitarian values, while maintaining its practical functionality as a sophisticated storage solution for culinary tools.
