One Avenue Center Mall
One Avenue Center Mall is a landmark commercial complex in Futian CBD, Shenzhen, distinguished by its innovative architectural lighting design that transforms the urban landscape through a dynamic, fish-scale-inspired facade. Completed in 2019, this substantial development encompasses approximately 186,000 square meters of built area and represents a significant achievement in architectural illumination. The building's most striking feature is its exterior composed of 5,495 custom-designed aluminum panels, each precisely folded to create triangular surfaces that interact with specially developed LED lighting systems. The lighting design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, employs custom-developed 48W-RGBW/1500mm/DMX flood lights to create a mesmerizing display of color and movement. The illumination concept draws inspiration from natural forms, particularly fish scales, and creates an ethereal ribbon-like effect through the interplay of light and shadow. This sophisticated lighting system generates a wave-like dynamic effect that transforms the building's appearance after dark, introducing a sense of organic movement to the urban environment. The project stands as a testament to innovative lighting design, combining technical innovation with artistic vision to create a commercial space that contributes significantly to the district's nighttime identity. The design successfully overcame numerous technical challenges through extensive research and development, particularly in creating custom lighting solutions when existing market options proved insufficient for achieving the desired visual effects.
