Oliva Perotes
Oliva Perotes (1920-2010) was a renowned Spanish artist known for her vibrant paintings of landscapes, urban scenes, and portraits. Born in Madrid, Perotes studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid, before studying in Paris for a year in 1947. Her education in both Madrid and Paris heavily influenced her work, combining the techniques of traditional Spanish painting with the techniques of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. Perotes’ most well-known works are Moorish Cafe, Paseo del Prado, and El Rastro. These paintings grace many museums and galleries across Spain, including the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, and they are particularly celebrated in Madrid.
