OLIV Commercial Building

OLIV Commercial Building is an innovative commercial architectural project located in the bustling Causeway Bay district of Hong Kong, distinguished by its unique organic form and sophisticated triple-skin curtain wall design. Drawing inspiration from the olive tree, this remarkable structure rises over 100 meters on a compact urban site of approximately 280 square meters, featuring a distinctive floor-to-floor height of 4980mm. The building's most striking characteristic is its dynamic exterior, which employs a complex triple-layered facade system consisting of an interior orthogonal subframe, a dark grey glass curtain wall, and an organic exterior layer of white cladding adorned with distinctive olive tree knots that transform into radiating star patterns. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category demonstrates exceptional technical achievement in its construction, particularly in the prefabrication and precise assembly of its unique aluminum cladding components, each custom-designed to accommodate the building's irregular form. The structure underwent significant engineering optimization, including a wind tunnel test that resulted in a 30% reduction in the reinforced concrete structure while maintaining structural integrity. The building's design seamlessly integrates retail and F&B spaces throughout its floors, while its signature star logo, visible from afar and illuminated at night, serves as a distinctive architectural landmark. The project, completed over a three-year period, overcame numerous technical challenges in demolition, foundation work, and superstructure construction, ultimately creating a harmonious balance between innovative design and functional commercial space.
