Oil Well Bridge Plugs
Oil well bridge plugs are mechanical devices used in the oil and gas industry to isolate specific sections of a wellbore. These plugs are designed to be inserted into the wellbore and then set in place to prevent the flow of fluids or gases between different zones of the well. They are typically used during well completion, workover, or abandonment operations. Bridge plugs come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but they all work on the same basic principle. The plug is inserted into the wellbore and then expanded or set in place using hydraulic pressure, mechanical force, or a combination of both. Once set, the plug creates a barrier that prevents fluid or gas from flowing past it. There are several different types of bridge plugs, each with its own unique features and applications. Some of the most common types include mechanical bridge plugs, retrievable bridge plugs, and permanent bridge plugs. Mechanical bridge plugs are typically used for temporary isolation, while retrievable and permanent bridge plugs are used for longer-term isolation. In addition to their use in well isolation, bridge plugs can also be used for other applications such as pressure testing, wellbore cleanout, and zone stimulation. They are an essential tool in the oil and gas industry and are used in a wide range of wellbore operations.
