Oculars Candle Holder

Oculars Candle Holder

Oculars Candle Holder is an innovative illumination device that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of artistic expression and functional design, created by Australian designer Simon Colabufalo. This sophisticated piece draws its inspiration from the organic form of the human eye, where the aluminum structure represents the eye's outline, the candle symbolizes the iris, and the flame embodies the pupil, creating a compelling visual metaphor. Crafted through the traditional sand casting technique in aluminum, the holder features thoughtfully considered dimensions of 365mm x 95mm x 165mm, demonstrating meticulous attention to both form and function. The design's distinctive characteristic lies in its carefully engineered upper rim, which curves away from the flame to prevent overheating while maintaining the integrity of its eye-inspired form. This innovative approach to thermal management showcases the designer's technical prowess in addressing practical challenges without compromising aesthetic appeal. The piece exemplifies contemporary furniture design's capacity to transform everyday objects into artistic statements, earning recognition with a Golden A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category. This prestigious accolade acknowledges the design's exceptional innovation, artistic merit, and technical excellence in creating a functional piece that transcends traditional candle holder design. The Oculars Candle Holder represents a significant contribution to modern interior accessories, combining sculptural elegance with practical functionality while demonstrating the potential of aluminum as a medium for creating sophisticated decorative elements.
