Oak Project Handmade Fashion
Oak Project Handmade Fashion is an innovative sustainable fashion collection that exemplifies the harmonious intersection of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design aesthetics, drawing profound inspiration from the Zagros Oak Forests of Iran. This meticulously handcrafted collection, designed by Leila Doroodchi, represents a significant advancement in sustainable fashion practices through its dedication to environmental consciousness and artisanal craftsmanship. The collection's distinctive aesthetic is characterized by nature-inspired motifs featuring trees and wildlife, rendered in colors directly observed from natural settings and translated into intricate patterns reminiscent of traditional carpet designs. Each piece requires approximately 120 hours of careful hand-weaving, utilizing premium-grade natural wool and cotton materials selected for their minimal environmental impact and exceptional durability. The production process adheres to strict ethical standards, emphasizing fair labor practices and sustainable manufacturing methods. The collection's unique design methodology involves freehand drawings that are subsequently transformed into detailed illustrations, mirroring the complex weaving patterns of hand-woven carpets. This innovative approach to fashion design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design category, demonstrates a successful fusion of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fashion sensibilities. The collection's made-to-measure approach allows for customization according to international sizing standards, while maintaining its commitment to sustainable practices and artistic integrity. The project, developed between April 2020 and September 2021 in Tehran, represents a culmination of extensive research into traditional design elements, including Qashqai designs and historical Kashan Sialk Pottery motifs, establishing itself as a significant contribution to the sustainable fashion movement.
