Nouveau Toilet Bowl

Nouveau Toilet Bowl

Nouveau Toilet bowl is an innovative sanitary ware design that revolutionizes the conventional toilet bowl concept by integrating a unique flower vase functionality, creating a harmonious blend of utility and aesthetics in bathroom environments. Designed by Cliff Shin, an award-winning designer and educator known for his Last-Long design philosophy, this groundbreaking bathroom fixture represents a significant advancement in sustainable bathroom furniture design. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category, introduces an ingenious water management system that repurposes water for both floral decoration and waste management. With dimensions of 661mm in depth, 338mm in width, and 811mm in height, the toilet bowl incorporates a sophisticated mechanism that provides fresh water to flowers each time the flush button is activated, addressing the common challenge of maintaining live plants in bathroom spaces. The design's environmental consciousness is evident in its dual-purpose water utilization system, which maximizes resource efficiency without compromising functionality. Manufactured through the slip casting method, this toilet bowl demonstrates exceptional attention to technical detail and manufacturing feasibility. The integration of the flower vase concept, while presenting significant design challenges, resulted in a harmonious solution that enhances both the aesthetic appeal and practical functionality of the bathroom environment. This innovative approach to bathroom fixture design, developed between April 2009 and August 2010 in Champaign, exemplifies the intersection of sustainable design principles with everyday utility, offering a fresh perspective on conventional bathroom furniture while maintaining high standards of practicality and environmental responsibility.
