Non-agricultural Lime
Non-agricultural lime, also known as industrial lime, is a type of lime that is used for non-agricultural purposes. It is a white, powdery substance that is made from limestone, which is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of calcium carbonate. Non-agricultural lime is produced by heating limestone to a high temperature, which causes it to break down into calcium oxide (quicklime) and carbon dioxide. The quicklime is then hydrated with water to produce calcium hydroxide (slaked lime), which is the final product. Non-agricultural lime has a wide range of industrial applications. It is commonly used in the production of steel, where it is used to remove impurities from the iron ore. It is also used in the production of cement, where it is used as a binding agent. Non-agricultural lime is also used in the production of glass, where it is used to lower the melting point of the silica. In addition, it is used in the production of chemicals, such as calcium carbide and calcium chloride. Non-agricultural lime is also used in various environmental applications. It is used to treat wastewater, where it is used to neutralize acidic water and remove heavy metals. It is also used in the treatment of drinking water, where it is used to remove impurities and improve the taste. Non-agricultural lime is also used in the treatment of soil, where it is used to neutralize acidic soil and improve the fertility.
