Nikola Tesla

Nikola Tesla is a renowned Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, and futurist who made groundbreaking contributions to the development of alternating current (AC) electricity and wireless technology. Born on July 10, 1856, in Smiljan, Croatia (then part of the Austrian Empire), Tesla displayed a keen interest in science and engineering from a young age. He studied at the Austrian Polytechnic in Graz and later at the University of Prague before immigrating to the United States in 1884. In New York, he briefly worked for Thomas Edison before striking out on his own to develop his AC motor and transformer designs. Tesla's innovations in AC power generation and transmission revolutionized the electrical industry, enabling the efficient, long-distance distribution of electricity. He also made significant advances in radio technology, laying the foundation for modern wireless communication. Throughout his career, Tesla obtained over 300 patents for his inventions, which included the Tesla coil, a high-voltage transformer that found applications in radio technology and is still used in various electronic devices today. Despite his numerous scientific achievements, Tesla faced financial difficulties and personal challenges in his later years. He died in New York City on January 7, 1943, at the age of 86, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire scientists, engineers, and innovators around the world.
