This meticulously crafted space, designed by Martin Chow in 2017, transforms a compact 4-meter wide, 9-meter deep, and 5-meter high volume into a multifunctional fashion designer's workshop through intelligent spatial planning and sophisticated material selection. The design's conceptual foundation draws inspiration from the humble sewing needle, a fundamental tool in fashion design, which is cleverly interpreted throughout the interior elements, particularly in the bar counter design and display systems. The space efficiently incorporates multiple functional zones, including a display area, gallery, designer's workshop, manager's room, meeting area, bar, and washroom, maximized through the innovative addition of a mezzanine floor with an L-shaped staircase. The material palette, comprising concrete wall finishes, stainless steel with gold finish, timber flooring, and black metal mesh, creates a neutral yet elegant backdrop that emphasizes the displayed fashion pieces. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional space optimization and functional layout design, particularly evident in its open-plan configuration and strategic void placement that facilitates effective communication and workflow. The modern and elegant atmosphere successfully enhances the property's value while maintaining a focus on practicality and aesthetic appeal, making it a noteworthy example of contemporary interior design that balances commercial requirements with creative expression.
