Native Nature Under Rainbow Light Residence
Native Nature Under Rainbow Light Residence is an award-winning interior design project completed in 2016 in Taichung City, Taiwan, that masterfully integrates modern art with residential living spaces. This 132-square-meter residence exemplifies a sophisticated fusion of avant-garde installation art and graceful elegancy, creating an environment that evokes the atmosphere of an autumn forest within an urban setting. The design's most distinctive feature is its striking iron screen entranceway, which creates a dramatic visual festival for residents and visitors alike. The interior space showcases a thoughtful material palette including natural stone, rough wooden veneers, and rhombus iron grilles, drawing inspiration from Newman houses overlooking central parks. The living room features meticulously selected grey fabric combinations for the main couches, incorporating linens, silk cloth, and flannelette to achieve a refined yet modest aesthetic. The kitchen area reflects contemporary lifestyle needs with a practical small artificial stone dining table designed for modern dining habits, while curved patterns on sliding doors create a butterfly-like effect symbolizing freedom and movement. Designed by Chung-Li Chen, this project earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2017, recognized for its innovative approach to creating a harmonious balance between natural elements and urban sophistication. The residence successfully maintains a connection to nature while embracing its city-center location, where rainbow lights create a magical ambiance that complements the overall design philosophy of merging primitive ecological atmosphere with contemporary living requirements.
