Nanbu Eye Gymnasium is a remarkable architectural masterpiece situated along the Jialing River, embodying a harmonious fusion of sports facility design and natural landscape integration. This platinum A' Design Award-winning structure, designed by Li Yang and Xu Haifeng, encompasses 22,000 square meters and stands 32 meters tall, featuring a distinctive jewel-like structural system that supports a massive 90-meter span dome. The gymnasium's design philosophy revolves around three core concepts: earthscape, integration, and openness, manifesting as a continuous spatial sequence along the waterfront that seamlessly merges urban and natural environments. The facility houses a 3,000-capacity indoor basketball arena on the upper floor and a comprehensive civic sports center on the lower level, including a 50-meter swimming pool and spaces for various athletic activities. The building's exterior is characterized by its innovative silk surface treatment, featuring colorful aluminum plates that pay homage to Nanchong's heritage as western China's silk capital, while simultaneously providing practical benefits such as shading and energy efficiency. The structure incorporates three panoramic corridors at different heights, offering visitors continuous views of the river landscape, while the design achieves environmental sustainability through adherence to Green Building Evaluation Standards.
