Nan Hsing Interior Design is a transformative interior architecture project that reimagines a traditional classroom space into a contemporary library environment, executed with sophisticated minimalism and thoughtful spatial planning. This innovative design, created by Yuan Chang Tsai and Pin Yu Chen in Taiwan, challenges conventional approaches to children's educational spaces by departing from typical vibrant colors and playful motifs in favor of a more refined, calming aesthetic that promotes focus and intellectual engagement. The project, spanning 1,494.780 square feet, masterfully addresses the structural constraints of traditional Taiwanese school architecture, incorporating existing elements such as beams and columns into a cohesive design through strategic use of dual-tone treatments and indirect lighting. The space features carefully selected materials including super wear-resistant floor tiles, laminate hard plastic sheets, and customized aluminum frames, creating a sophisticated yet durable environment. A distinguishing element of the design is its innovative approach to reading spaces, incorporating varied seating arrangements including window-side bar seating that allows students to engage with both literature and natural scenery. The project, completed in 2019, demonstrates exceptional consideration for user experience through its holistic approach to lighting, material selection, and spatial organization, earning recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its outstanding contribution to educational space design.
