Multimodal Design

Multimodal Design in Cross-Sensory Art means combining things like sound, touch, sight, and even smell to create one artwork that uses many senses at once. Designers working with this approach often use materials that can be seen and touched, or add sound and light effects that change when someone moves or interacts with the piece. This way, the art experience feels richer and more complete, because it connects with people through more than one sense at a time. For example, a sculpture might have a surface that feels warm or cool, lights that change color, and soft music that plays when someone gets close, all working together as one design.

cross-sensory design, sensory integration, interactive art, multisensory installation, experiential design
