Muh Shoou Xixi Hotel is an architecturally significant hospitality establishment located within the Xixi Wetland, exemplifying a harmonious integration of modern hotel design with ecological preservation. The name derives from an ancient agricultural tradition where farmers would leave the final fruit on trees for wildlife as a gesture of environmental stewardship and harvest blessing. Completed in 2018, this 7,000-square-meter development represents a masterful renovation of five existing structures, transformed through minimal intervention to create a contemporary hotel that maintains deep connections to its natural surroundings. The design philosophy emphasizes the preservation of the wetland's inherent characteristics - coldness, quietness, uniqueness, wildness, and seclusion - while incorporating modern amenities. A distinctive feature is its 300-square-meter banquet hall, encompassed by 270-degree French windows that seamlessly blend indoor spaces with the surrounding forest landscape. The project demonstrates exceptional environmental sensitivity, particularly in its preservation of native vegetation, including century-old persimmon trees, whose locations were meticulously documented and integrated into the architectural planning. The hotel's design incorporates traditional water routes based on the wetland's original topography, offering guests unique perspectives of the landscape through water-based transportation. This innovative approach to ecological hotel design earned the project a Golden A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category in 2020, recognizing its outstanding contribution to sustainable hospitality architecture.
