Mood Tree Desktop Memo Holder

Mood Tree Desktop Memo Holder

Mood Tree Desktop Memo Holder is an innovative desktop accessory that combines functional design with emotional expression, drawing inspiration from Japanese cultural elements and the symbolism of the Bonsai tree. Created by designer Sameh Ibrahim Emam, this unique memo holder addresses workplace communication challenges through a thoughtful blend of form and function. The design features a tree-like structure manufactured using WoodPLAy Wood Fill PLA, a biodegradable 3D printing material that incorporates up to 40% ground wood particles, resulting in a natural wood-like appearance and texture. Standing at 21.87 cm in length, 4.36 cm in width, and 11.89 cm in height, the holder comes with specially designed dual-colored memos featuring rose at the top representing happiness and yellow at the bottom symbolizing sadness. This innovative approach to emotional expression allows users to communicate their moods non-verbally by displaying memos on the corresponding colored side, accommodating up to seven users simultaneously. The design, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Art and Stationery Supplies Design category, exemplifies a harmonious integration of traditional Japanese values with modern functionality, addressing the cultural tendency to avoid direct emotional expression in formal settings. The product's thoughtful conception stems from a broader research initiative exploring the intersection of gamification and product design to address social issues, making it particularly relevant in professional environments where emotional communication can be challenging.
