Moo Multifunctional Holder

Moo Multifunctional Holder

Moo Multifunctional Holder is an innovative design object that exemplifies the intersection of form and function in contemporary product design. Created by designer Zhihao Guo, this versatile piece challenges traditional design paradigms by presenting an intentionally ambiguous form that invites user interpretation and multiple functionalities. Crafted from maple wood using CNC technology, the object measures 89mm in length, 89mm in width, and 72mm in height, featuring a distinctive design with four carefully positioned bumps on its upper surface and strategic concavities that enable stable stacking configurations. The design's primary function as a holder is suggested by its elevated points, yet it transcends this singular purpose to serve as a paperweight, table sculpture, tactile toy, or massage tool, embodying a philosophy where form and function exist in dynamic interplay. This approach represents a departure from the conventional form follows function principle, instead exploring how ambiguous forms can enhance user engagement and creativity. The object's organic yet structured aesthetic draws inspiration from natural forms while maintaining a refined, contemporary appearance that suits modern interior spaces. The design earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Decorative Items and Homeware Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to multifunctional design. Its significance lies not only in its practical versatility but also in its conceptual contribution to the dialogue between art and design, challenging users to engage with objects in more imaginative and personal ways.
