Mizone Mystery Beverage is an innovative packaging design concept that revolutionizes the traditional beverage packaging paradigm through its distinctive incorporation of mystery and natural phenomena as design elements. The design, created by a Shanghai-based design studio, draws inspiration from the ethereal beauty of the aurora borealis and the growing popularity of blind box culture in China, masterfully combining these elements to create an engaging consumer experience. The packaging features a sophisticated interplay of blue and green aurora patterns stretching across a dark backdrop, complemented by imagery of cooling icebergs that creates a refreshing visual narrative particularly appealing during summer seasons. A notable departure from conventional beverage packaging design principles is evident in its asymmetrical panel approach, where the back panel boldly features an oversized question mark, deliberately cultivating consumer curiosity and engagement. The design, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, utilizes PET bottle construction with shrink film technology, measuring 7cm in width and 21cm in height. The project, which was developed between February and July 2022, successfully addresses the challenge of creating a mysterious yet appealing visual identity while maintaining brand recognition. The design's effectiveness lies in its ability to transform a simple beverage container into an immersive experience that connects with consumers through both visual aesthetics and psychological engagement, particularly resonating with younger demographics who appreciate elements of surprise and discovery in their consumer products.
