Micromobility
Micromobility is a term that encompasses lightweight, usually single-person vehicles designed for short-distance travel, typically in urban environments. These vehicles, which are smaller than traditional automobiles, include bicycles, e-bikes, electric scooters, and other small, wheeled conveyances. The concept of micromobility has gained significant traction in recent years as cities grapple with traffic congestion, air pollution, and the need for more sustainable transportation options. Micromobility solutions offer a convenient, eco-friendly alternative to cars for short trips, helping to reduce carbon emissions and improve urban mobility. They also provide a solution for the last mile problem, connecting people from public transit hubs to their final destinations. The rise of micromobility has been facilitated by advancements in electric motor and battery technology, as well as the proliferation of smartphone apps that enable users to easily locate, unlock, and rent these vehicles. However, the rapid growth of micromobility has also presented challenges, such as the need for appropriate infrastructure, safety concerns, and the development of regulations to govern their use in public spaces.
