Meteorite Light is an innovative lighting solution that seamlessly combines pendant and desk lamp functionalities, designed by Engin Kandemir and Ayça Işik Turkoglu. This versatile lighting system, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, draws inspiration from the natural phenomenon of meteor showers, incorporating this celestial concept into both its aesthetic and functional design. The system consists of six wireless components that can function collectively as a pendant light or separately as individual desk lamps, making it particularly suitable for office environments and public spaces. Crafted from aluminum with electrostatic polyester powder paint in black and galaxy grey finishes, the design features premium materials including silicone rubber details and 304-quality stainless steel edges. The lighting units are equipped with 3000K 18W SMD LED technology and offer a minimum eight-hour battery life, ensuring sustained illumination when used as portable desk lamps. The pendant configuration measures 1015mm in width, 415mm in depth, and 2000mm in height, while individual desk lamp units measure 160mm x 190mm x 180mm. Each component features an ergonomic five-edged modular design that facilitates easy transformation between pendant and desk lamp configurations, with integrated charging capability in the pendant position. The system's innovative approach to workplace lighting addresses the need for flexible, space-efficient illumination solutions while maintaining aesthetic appeal inspired by astronomical phenomena. The design successfully overcomes the technical challenge of combining mechanical functionality with aesthetic appeal, resulting in a product that enhances workplace environments through its adaptable nature and sophisticated design language.
