Metal Anchors
Metal anchors are devices used to secure objects to a surface by providing a stable connection point. They are commonly used in construction and DIY projects to attach items such as shelves, cabinets, and light fixtures to walls, ceilings, and floors. Metal anchors come in a variety of shapes and sizes, each designed for a specific application. One of the most common types of metal anchors is the expansion anchor, which is used to secure heavy objects to concrete or masonry surfaces. Expansion anchors work by compressing against the sides of a pre-drilled hole when a screw is inserted, creating a tight fit that prevents the anchor from pulling out. Another type of metal anchor is the toggle bolt, which is used for attaching objects to drywall or other hollow surfaces. Toggle bolts work by expanding behind the surface when a screw is inserted, creating a secure hold. Metal anchors can also be used for marine applications, such as securing boats to docks or anchoring buoys. In these cases, specialized anchors such as mushroom anchors or fluke anchors are used, which are designed to provide a strong hold in water or mud. When selecting a metal anchor, it is important to consider the weight of the object being attached, the type of surface it will be attached to, and the conditions it will be exposed to. Using the wrong type of anchor or failing to install it properly can result in the object becoming loose or falling, which can be dangerous.
