Meta Vessel Vase
Meta Vessel Vase is an innovative and interactive decorative vessel that revolutionizes the traditional concept of a flower vase through its unique modular design and philosophical underpinnings. Created by designer Chubai Liu, this remarkable piece draws inspiration from traditional Chinese Garden aesthetics while incorporating contemporary design principles. The vase consists of multiple semicircular layers that can be individually rotated and reassembled, allowing users to create customized configurations that best suit their aesthetic preferences and floral arrangements. Crafted from urethane foam through meticulous handcrafting processes, the vase measures 200mm x 200mm x 290mm and exemplifies the theoretical framework of Gestalt psychology, where individual components work together to create a cohesive whole. The design's asymmetric and alterable appearance encourages users to explore different perspectives and usage modes, fostering a deeper connection between the object and its user. This interaction goes beyond mere functionality, as the vessel is designed to influence users' emotional states while simultaneously being influenced by their creative choices. The Meta Vessel Vase, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, represents a sophisticated blend of form and function, where each layer must be precisely crafted to ensure perfect alignment and stability. Its versatility makes it suitable for various environments, including homes, hotels, offices, and galleries, while its philosophical depth - derived from the Greek word meta meaning beyond and self - invites users to transcend surface-level appreciation and discover spiritual fulfillment through their interaction with the object.
