Meta Mecha Metamaterial Prosthetic Liner
Meta Mecha Metamaterial Prosthetic Liner is an innovative medical device that represents a significant advancement in prosthetic technology, combining computational design, metamaterial science, and 3D printing capabilities to create personalized socket liners for amputees. This groundbreaking design, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Cybernetics, Prosthesis and Implant Design category, utilizes advanced mechanical metamaterials printed with elastic TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) to deliver customized pressure distribution and comfort for individual users. The system employs sophisticated 3D scanning technology and pressure sensor equipment to capture precise measurements and mechanical requirements of the residual limb, enabling the generation of highly personalized solutions through parametric design tools. The liner's unique feature lies in its pressure-sensitive color-changing material, which provides immediate visual feedback about pressure distribution and potential areas of concern. This intelligent design allows for easy monitoring of fit and indicates when replacement is necessary, particularly important as residual limbs naturally change shape over time. The integration of metamaterial structures enables precise control over mechanical properties across different areas of the liner, offering unprecedented levels of customization in prosthetic comfort and functionality while maintaining economic feasibility for regular updates and replacements.
