Merry Coast Flat
Merry Coast Flat is an award-winning residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of musical inspiration and spatial design principles. Located in the Yinzhou District of Ningbo, China, this 280-square-meter residence was conceived and executed by designer Suping Zhuo, who masterfully transformed the space into a sophisticated living environment that resonates with the metaphorical rhythm of piano melodies. The design philosophy centers on creating a perceptual experience through rational architectural decisions, establishing a dynamic dialogue between the inhabitants and their surroundings. The project's distinctive features include expansive curtain-like glass windows that facilitate natural light penetration, creating an atmosphere of tranquility enhanced by an elegant neutral color palette. The interior's composition incorporates thoughtfully placed decorative elements, including a strategic round mirror in the dining area that creates an illusion of a parallel dimension, while carefully curated artwork adorns the walls to generate visual interest throughout the space. The design's material palette combines carpet, stone, wood finishes, and carefully selected furniture pieces to achieve a cohesive aesthetic statement. Completed between November 2018 and December 2019, this project earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to residential design. The space planning prioritizes openness and flow, creating distinct zones for various activities while maintaining a unified aesthetic that promotes both functionality and artistic expression. The design successfully addresses the challenge of creating moments of amazement within a calm environment, effectively framing everyday life scenes into memorable vignettes that enhance the residential experience.
