MedVie Health Care is an innovative architectural healthcare complex located in Caxias do Sul, Brazil, designed to revolutionize the traditional approach to medical facility design through its human-centric and community-oriented architecture. The distinguished project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, encompasses 30,541.45 square meters spread across 12 floors, featuring 244 medical offices, 18 retail spaces, and 444 parking spaces. The architectural concept is characterized by two distinctive wings that open toward the corner of the site, creating an inviting public space through a dramatic void along the building's central axis. The design deliberately challenges the conventional cold, clinical atmosphere typically associated with healthcare facilities by incorporating warm, welcoming elements such as natural light, integrated green spaces, and a sophisticated material palette comprising high-performance glass, composite aluminum panels, and local sandstone cladding. The structure's most notable feature is its central diagonal axis, which organizes the interior spaces and guides visitors through a grand central lobby where medical facilities, retail spaces, cafes, and a day hospital converge in a light-filled, integrated environment. The reinforced concrete structural system supports this complex program while maintaining a human scale that promotes accessibility and comfort. Developed using advanced BIM technology and completed in 2021, the project successfully addresses the challenge of creating a healthcare environment that balances technological sophistication with emotional well-being, establishing itself as a pioneering example of modern medical architecture that serves both as a healthcare facility and a vibrant community hub.
