Mazurro Coffee Packaging

Mazurro Coffee Packaging

Mazurro Coffee Packaging is an innovative coffee packaging design that exemplifies the intersection of modernist design principles and contemporary brand storytelling. The design's distinctive feature is its geometric pattern centered around a stylized letter 'M', drawing inspiration from Josef Hoffman's pioneering work in the Vienna Workshop movement, which laid foundational elements for modernist design. The minimalistic approach employs strong contrasts and geometric forms, creating a commanding shelf presence while incorporating subtle Italian design elements. The packaging, measuring 130mm in width, 75mm in depth, and 270mm in height for its 500g variant, utilizes flexographic printing technology with strategic white underprinting to achieve metallic effects in designated areas. This sophisticated design solution effectively addresses the unique challenge of establishing an Italian coffee brand identity without using traditional Italian nomenclature. The packaging system encompasses three distinct flavor variants, each distinguished by unique colorways while maintaining the core geometric pattern. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2021, demonstrates exceptional achievement in combining functional efficiency with aesthetic innovation. The project, developed between April and August 2020, represents a thoughtful balance between practical packaging requirements and artistic expression, creating an almost cinematic brand experience that invites consumer exploration and engagement with the product's broader brand universe.
