Mastodonts Toy

Mastodonts Toy

Mastodonts Toy is an innovative wooden magnetic construction toy that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of minimalist design principles with sustainable manufacturing practices. This Silver A' Design Award-winning creation consists of 22 precisely engineered wooden pieces that ingeniously combine to form four distinct animal figures sharing a common body, demonstrating remarkable versatility in play potential. Crafted entirely from natural beech wood and featuring embedded magnets, the toy represents a significant advancement in eco-conscious toy design, completely avoiding the use of plastics, paints, varnishes, or synthetic adhesives. The manufacturing process employs sophisticated CNC machinery for precise craftsmanship, while maintaining traditional woodworking techniques such as hand-sanding and natural finishing with a proprietary blend of beeswax and olive oil. Each set is presented in an environmentally conscious poplar wood box, accompanied by maintenance accessories including a polishing cloth and natural wax tin. The toy's dimensions are meticulously calculated to ensure optimal playability while maintaining structural integrity, with the complete package measuring 310mm x 310mm x 330mm. Developed between 2011 and 2014 in Spain, this educational toy encourages creative thinking and spatial awareness through its transformative design, allowing children to discover different animal configurations through imaginative play. The design's success in combining architectural inspiration with playful functionality earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, highlighting its contribution to advancing sustainable toy design practices.
