Born on August 26, 1938, in Turin, Italy, Gandini's career spanned over five decades, during which he created some of the most iconic and groundbreaking vehicle designs. He began his career in 1963 at Bertone, one of Italy's leading design houses, where he worked under the guidance of Giorgetto Giugiaro. His designs often challenged conventional notions of automotive design, pushing the boundaries of what was considered possible. Gandini's most notable works include the Lamborghini Miura (1966), which is often credited with establishing the modern supercar archetype; the Lancia Stratos HF (1971), a purpose-built rally car that dominated the World Rally Championship in the 1970s; and the Lamborghini Countach (1974), a poster child of the 1980s that epitomized the era's fascination with speed and extravagance. Other significant designs by Gandini include the Alfa Romeo Montreal (1970), the Maserati Khamsin (1974), and the Lamborghini Diablo (1990).
