Manshausen2 Resort

Manshausen2 Resort

Manshausen2 Resort is an architecturally distinctive hospitality complex situated in Norway, comprising three innovative sea cabins and a sauna facility, exemplifying a harmonious blend of contemporary design with dramatic natural surroundings. The resort's extension, completed in 2018, features sophisticated prefabricated Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) construction methodology, with the cabins strategically positioned above the sea to create an immersive connection with the surrounding landscape. Each 33-square-meter cabin, accommodating 2-5 guests, demonstrates exceptional architectural ingenuity through its aluminum sheet exterior cladding and custom glass constructions, while the interiors showcase refined craftsmanship with birch and corian finishes. The project, designed by Snorre Stinessen, earned recognition with a Golden A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, highlighting its innovative approach to sustainable luxury tourism. The design's most distinctive feature is its dramatic positioning above the ocean, requiring careful consideration of climatic challenges including sea spray exposure and potential wave impact. The sauna facility, an 18-square-meter structure accommodating 8-10 people, represents sustainable design principles through its innovative use of reclaimed materials from the project's first construction phase, including CLT exterior panels and slate roof tiles from an original barn, while being thoughtfully positioned within a central seawater pond that enhances the guest experience through its connection to the majestic surrounding landscape.
