Majestic Residential House is an innovative residential architecture project designed by Japanese architect Shunsuke Ohe, exemplifying sophisticated modern living through its thoughtful integration with a challenging sloping site. This two-family residence, completed in 2024, masterfully balances public and private spaces across two floors, with the second floor serving as the primary living area containing the entrance, living room, dining room, and kitchen, while the first floor houses private quarters including bedrooms. The exterior design showcases a striking composition of black natural slate stone and marble-like tiles, complemented by wooden latticework and white paint accents, creating an imposing yet welcoming presence. The building's clever design makes it appear as a single-story structure from the facade, with dramatic two-meter-high eaves enhancing its architectural presence. Interior spaces feature a bright, contemporary aesthetic with white and wood grain base colors, enhanced by glazed accents that create a fresh atmosphere. The 144.8-square-meter residence demonstrates exceptional spatial planning, incorporating a split-level design in the living areas where the living room sits two steps below the dining room and kitchen, ingeniously doubling as casual seating. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design, successfully addresses multi-generational living requirements by providing dedicated spaces for elderly residents while maintaining seamless connectivity between shared areas. The innovative use of toplight, careful material selection, and thoughtful consideration of accessibility make this residence a notable example of contemporary Japanese residential architecture that harmoniously combines functionality, aesthetics, and universal design principles.
