Magnetic Resistance Sensors

Magnetic resistance sensors are devices that measure changes in magnetic fields and convert them into electrical signals. These sensors are used in a variety of applications, including automotive, industrial, and medical fields. They are commonly used in speed and position sensing, as well as in detecting the presence of magnetic objects. The principle behind magnetic resistance sensors is based on the change in resistance of a magnetic material when it is exposed to a magnetic field. These sensors consist of a magnetic material, such as nickel-iron or permalloy, that is deposited on a non-magnetic substrate, such as silicon. The magnetic material is then patterned into a thin film, which is typically a few micrometers thick. When a magnetic field is applied to the sensor, the resistance of the magnetic material changes. This change in resistance is then measured and converted into an electrical signal. The strength of the magnetic field can be determined by the magnitude of the change in resistance. Magnetic resistance sensors are highly sensitive and can detect very small changes in magnetic fields. They are also highly reliable and can operate in harsh environments, such as high temperatures and high vibration. These sensors are commonly used in automotive applications, such as anti-lock braking systems and engine control systems, as well as in industrial applications, such as position sensing in robotics.
