Mac Low Chair is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the intersection of contemporary Brazilian craftsmanship and sustainable material usage. Created by designer Marcio Sassine, this distinctive low chair represents a harmonious blend of furniture design and jewelry-making aesthetics, crafted from reclaimed Peroba Rosa demolition wood sourced from old farm houses. The chair's structure features meticulously revealed wood beam cores, enhanced by precise creases and angles that showcase the natural beauty of the material. With dimensions of 690mm width, 880mm depth, and 660mm height, the chair's proportions pay homage to Modern Brazilian furniture traditions. The design incorporates quadripartite leather upholstery in both the seat and back, while brass detailing adds a sophisticated luminosity to the piece. A notable design element is the golden brass mirror backrest, which creates a visually striking appearance from all angles. The chair's creation, spanning from June 2017 to May 2018, involved extensive collaboration with local Brazilian artisans who treated each component with jewelry-maker precision. This approach to furniture design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, acknowledging its innovative use of materials and commitment to sustainability.
