LOOP Interior Design
LOOP Interior Design is an innovative architectural interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese philosophy with contemporary modernist principles. Located in Nanjing, China, this three-floor oval-shaped building spans approximately 800 square metres and serves as a sophisticated real estate sales center, incorporating meeting rooms, VIP areas, and staff offices. The design's philosophical foundation draws inspiration from the ancient Chinese concept of returning home, cleverly expressed through architectural elements and spatial arrangements. The structure's distinctive features include a misplaced space design on the first and second floors, encompassed by transparent glass that seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor landscapes. The designer, TU PO CHUN, masterfully incorporated cultural elements through various architectural details, such as the deep well modeling above the sand table, painted with vermeil emulsion paint to symbolize the Chinese character 回 (hui), representing concepts of home and reincarnation. The project, which was completed in 2015, demonstrates exceptional material selection, utilizing marble, paint, stainless steel, artificial stone, and glass to create a sophisticated aesthetic environment. The design's excellence was recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to spatial design and cultural integration. The project's success lies in its ability to balance functional requirements with aesthetic considerations while maintaining a strong connection to Chinese cultural heritage, particularly resonating with Nanjing's historical significance as the capital of six dynasties.
