Liu Zhi Studio
Liu Zhi Studio is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of nature and functionality in contemporary workspace design. Located in Ningbo, China, this sophisticated office environment was meticulously crafted by designer Jian Wang as a workplace for Liu Wen, China's pioneering supermodel. The project's architectural composition consists of two three-floor buildings interconnected by a ground-floor lobby and first-floor terrace, featuring a courtyard, patio, and waterside terrace that maximize the surrounding riverside landscape. The design philosophy emphasizes freedom and natural elements through minimalist aesthetics, employing simple lines and thoughtful spatial planning. The studio's distinctive features include the removal of unnecessary walls and windows to optimize natural light penetration, while incorporating folding and hidden doors that blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. The interior showcases a sophisticated material palette of cement, steel plate, glass, and artistic elements, complemented by white walls and a symbolic cherry tree. A notable technical achievement is the waterproof dining room, specifically engineered to withstand seasonal flooding through carefully selected materials and custom furniture. The project, completed in 2019, received recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its exceptional approach to spatial design and innovative solution to environmental challenges. The design's flexible layout eschews traditional boundaries between functional areas, allowing for dynamic space utilization that adapts to varying needs while maintaining a consistent connection to the natural surroundings.
