Literature Senses Literary Space
Literature Senses Literary Space is an innovative interior design project that transforms a historic literary memorial museum into an immersive, multisensory cultural experience. Located within a century-old former forestry affairs office building, this 270-square-meter space represents a groundbreaking approach to literary exhibition design by engaging all five human senses in the presentation of literary heritage. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, masterfully integrates exhibition spaces, catering facilities, cultural retail areas, and public gathering zones to create a cohesive narrative environment. The space is distinguished by its thoughtful incorporation of sensory elements: visual components include both physical and virtual exhibitions, auditory elements feature classical music selections, taste is engaged through specially crafted beverages including the innovative ink coffee concept, olfactory experiences are delivered through literary-inspired scented teas, and tactile interactions are facilitated through carefully curated cultural products. The first floor houses a carefully designed café area where literary elements are seamlessly integrated into every aspect, from table decorations to menu designs, while the second floor features an atmospheric corridor installation where character names from literary works are displayed beneath the ceiling, creating a metaphorical literary constellation. This sophisticated design approach not only preserves and presents literary heritage but also adapts it for contemporary social media-oriented audiences, successfully balancing historical significance with modern functionality. The project exemplifies excellence in exhibition design through its innovative use of space, material selection, and thoughtful integration of cultural elements, demonstrating how interior design can effectively bridge the gap between traditional literary appreciation and contemporary cultural engagement.
