Line User interface is an innovative digital interface design specifically crafted for E Ink display technology, emphasizing a minimalist approach to enhance the reading experience through thoughtful user experience optimization. This sophisticated interface system, developed in Ukraine between December 2013 and May 2014, represents a significant advancement in e-reader interface design, incorporating thin outlines and intuitively designed icons to achieve exceptional clarity and user-friendliness. The interface operates on a 6-inch E Ink Carta display with 1024 x 758 pixel resolution and 212 dpi, utilizing 16 grey levels to create a visually balanced monochromatic experience. The design successfully addresses several technical challenges inherent to E Ink technology, including screen refresh rate optimization and ghost image mitigation. The interface's architecture features a strategically organized home screen that provides immediate access to recently opened and added books, complemented by a versatile applications panel accommodating 20 distinct functions. A persistent control panel ensures swift access to essential reader functions and social network notifications, while the reading interface offers comprehensive tools within a single touch interaction. This thoughtfully crafted user interface, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Interface, Interaction and User Experience Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in combining functional efficiency with aesthetic refinement, particularly in its approach to overcoming the unique constraints of E Ink display technology while maintaining an unobtrusive and user-centric design philosophy.
