Light Rail
Light Rail, within the context of architecture, is a form of urban transport utilizing a network of tracks and trams that travel on the surface of the road, or elevated on a structure, and are powered by electricity. Light Rail systems serve cities or regions, and are distinct from other forms of transit in their ability to provide frequent and reliable service, and their capacity to carry large numbers of passengers. Light Rail is also a cost-effective form of public transport, as it requires less capital investment compared to heavy rail systems and enjoys lower operational costs.

Light Rail
Masonry is an important part of the architectural landscape, and light rail systems are no exception. Light rail systems are defined as a transportation system that uses electric power to operate multiple carriages, which can be used for public transport, freight, and other purposes. Light rail systems are typically powered by overhead cables and are designed to be significantly quieter and more energy efficient than traditional rail systems. They can also be used as part of a larger, integrated mass transit system, allowing multiple modes of transport to be connected within a single network. As an architect expert in masonry, it is important to understand the various components of a light rail system and their implications for the built environment.
