Light Of Chao Hotel
Light of Chao Hotel is an innovative boutique-style hospitality project located in Beijing's Sanlitun district, distinguished by its groundbreaking architectural lighting design that revolutionizes traditional hotel illumination concepts. Drawing inspiration from animal nests, this transformative project encompasses 180 rooms across five distinct room types, implementing a sophisticated multi-level, diversified spatial strategy that harmoniously blends various materials, colors, and design elements to showcase both historical charm and contemporary vitality. The lighting design, conceived by Chief Interior Lighting Designer Yenchin Wang, deliberately breaks from conventional hotel lighting approaches by integrating public interior design practices with art gallery aesthetics. The project's distinctive features include a pixel-like fabric ceiling with linear backlighting that creates a floating effect, reminiscent of post-modernist artwork. The Sunlight Hall exemplifies the design's minimalist philosophy, achieving spatial aesthetics through strategic wall luminaires rather than traditional downlights. The lighting scheme incorporates various technical elements including recessed adjustable downlights, wall washer tracklights, burial lights, LED continuous strip lighting, and sophisticated 3-circuit track systems. This innovative approach earned the project a Golden A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category in 2017, recognizing its exceptional contribution to hospitality lighting design. The project, completed in August 2016, successfully transforms the conventional hotel experience by creating an art-focused environment that maintains functionality while elevating the space through strategic illumination, making it a benchmark for hotel renovation projects.
